BTS V opens up about his hard times in the past and mentions collaboration with Min Hee Jin

BTS member V talked about when he lost confidence and initial motivation in the past

V guested on the September 6th broadcast of tvN’s program “You Quiz on the Block (You Quiz)” and shared various stories.

That day, Yoo Jae Suk introduced V, saying “There are more than one or two things to celebrate this year. It’s already been 10 years since V debuted. Two years ago, V and his group topped Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Dynamite’ and appeared on ‘You Quiz’. Since then, they’ve already added 5 more songs”.

Recalling the past, V shared, “To be honest, there’s nothing we haven’t done. During our debut days, we tried many different kinds of content. We did this and that and filmed behind-the-scenes content on YouTube. No one else was doing such things back then”, adding “The first time we performed in the US was when we did the opening stage for a K-pop concert. The responses from local fans were good so we realized that we could return to perform there”.

Yoo Jae Suk then wondered, “Don’t you feel tired when doing world tours? Everyone suffers a hard time in life, a period when they feel hesitant, right?”. In response, V said, “There was a time when I lost confidence on the stage. At that time, I couldn’t feel the excitement of performing, and my heart no longer beat fast no matter what stage I did. I felt scared of going on stage sometimes.”

During the interview with “You Quiz” production team, V confessed, “I started to feel numb when we performed on stage or received awards. No matter how big the awards were, I could no longer feel the happiness and preciousness of it as well as my initial motivation. I realized, ‘It can’t be like this. It’s a big problem’. I needed to try something new.”

He continued, “I think ‘RUN BTS’ came out because we wanted to try something different while holding onto our original enthusiasm more intensely. We were able to regain our motivation and move forward because we realized that we still liked performing so much. It’s our happiness. Since then, I began to clear my mind and came back to my senses.”

In addition, Yoo Jae Suk mentioned Min Hee Jin’s participation in V’s first solo album as a producer. V said, “I made the request to meet and work with her.”

He explained, “I really liked the album ‘Pink Tape’ by f(x) that was released a long time ago. I heard CEO Min Hee Jin made it. I thought I wanted to work with her. After listening to the songs I prepared, she agreed to work on my album.”

V continued, “We were very with our individual schedules so we didn’t get to meet a lot. I let J-Hope, who is serving in the military, and Jungkook listen to my solo album and they gave good feedback. I even recorded the songs at Jungkook’s house. Jungkook directed the recording.”
