BTS Suga: “Jungkook is such a great singer, a very talented friend”

BTS Suga talked about member Jungkook, “He’s a very talented friend.”

Suga conducted a live broadcast titled “My Hair Grew A Lot” through BTS‘ official V LIVE channel on March 1st.

Suga released the single “Stay Alive” produced by himself and sung by member Jungkook on February 11th. The song gained hot popularity, entering #95 on the U.S. Billboard’s main single chart Hot 100.

About the process of working on this new song, Suga recalled, “I worked with Jungkook. We’ve been working on it for quite some time. We just made it without knowing when the release date would be.”

He then added, “I made beats, wrote melodies then started writing lyrics when the release schedule was set. I wrote the lyrics in America. I wrote it on the plane before the LA concert when I arrived in the United States. I think I recorded it the next day as soon as I got there. All the lyrics were written by me. It’s a webtoon, so I read until chapter 3~4 and wrote referring to the story. I wrote it while thinking about the manhwa’s OST.”

He also talked about Jungkook, “First of all, Jungkook sang so well that there was no big difficulty. When writing a song, the key in the chorus gets too high if you match the verse, and the verse gets lower if you match the chorus. There were a lot of songs that went back and forth, but Jungkook was so good at singing.”

Suga continued, “When Jungkook recorded, it was when I stayed in the U.S. more. He recorded it by himself and sent it to me, but he did a great job. I kept listening to it and editing it until he handed the mix over. I liked it so much that I went at once without re-recording it. Jungkook is such a great singer. He’s a very talented friend.”

“Stay Alive (Prod. SUGA of BTS)” is the OST of  HYBE‘s original story “7FATES: CHAKHO”, which depicts the confrontation between humans and tigers. It is a pop ballad genre song featuring a dreamy yet magnificent atmosphere.

Suga‘s group BTS will hold their first face-to-face concert in Korea in two years and five months at Seoul Olympic Main Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul on April 10th, 12th and 13th.
