In the latest update, BTS’ V and RM have successfully completed their basic military training and attended a graduation ceremony.
Several online videos of the graduation ceremony capture the moment when RM and V received awards for their outstanding performance.
At the event, RM delivered a speech via a pre-recorded video message. He started by acknowledging his prolonged postponement of military enlistment, expressing worry about enlisting at a comparatively older age.
BTS’ leader highlighted how the comprehensive military training heightened his awareness of the crucial role played by South Korea’s defense force as the country is in a ceasefire situation.
Reflecting on his basic training, RM shared that one of the most memorable moments was a night march with his comrades. He expressed gratitude to the officers and platoon leaders who guided him through tough training sessions.
In his closing remarks, RM acknowledged that while a world without conscription might be ideal, the current situation necessitates the sacrifice of many to maintain a peaceful environment for everyone.
In response to RM’s speech, ARMYs’ opinions were divided. Some were questioning the authenticity of RM’s words and even considering the possibility of him being forced by the government to say such content. They pointed out that RM’s publicly shared worldview seemed inconsistent with his speech.
Conversely, some fans praised RM’s speech for sharing his positive experience. Other fans also criticized any engagement with the content of RM’s speech, arguing that the speech was not intended for fans to see.
