BTS sincerely confessed their feelings to their ARMYs (fans of BTS), in commemoration of the group’s 10th anniversary.
At 1PM (KST) on June 9th, BTS released a new digital single titled “Take Two” through domestic and international music platforms.
This single is a new song released by BTS as a complete group, 1 year after their album “Proof”, which was released on June 10th last year.
BTS, who made their official debut on June 13th, 2013, is celebrating their highly anticipated 10th anniversary this year. Under the theme of “Take Two”, which signals “the second chapter”, the 7 members calmly reflected on the intersection of souls they have expanded with ARMYs as BTS.
The song also contains expectations and aspirations for the second chapter of BTS, which will not just be a reminiscing of memories, but will be an ongoing journey alongside with ARMYs.
Member Suga took on the main producing role for “Take Two”, while leader RM and member j-hope also participated in the songwriting process, enhancing its completeness. The members’ sweet vocals and rap harmoniously blend with the cozy acoustic sound.
“It was possible because of you, and we were happy because we had you by our side”, said BTS, who conveyed their gratitude for fans’ overwhelming love, and vowed that the second act that lies ahead will be written for the sake of ARMY.
BTS also added that a decade may bring a lot of changes, but as long as they protect each other, BTS and ARMY will be eternal youth. Such a message is clearly conveyed through “Take Two”, which includes the lyrics, “Yeah, we never felt so young / When together, sing the song / Meeting each other’s eyes / Even if it rains / Yeah, we never felt so right / When I got you by my side (My side) / Follow the stars we hit together / Oh, we young forever.”
These lyrics remind fans of the BTS song “EPILOGUE: Young Forever,’ which was included in their 2016 album “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever”. At that time, BTS expressed their mixed emotions after returning to normal, singing, “The thundering applause, I can’t own it forever / I tell myself, so shameless / Raise your voice higher / Even if the attention isn’t forever, I’ll keep singing / As today’s me, I want eternity / Forever, I want to be young.”
7 years ago, BTS wanted eternity and to be young forever, and such a dream has continued till now. In particular, the group sing through their new song “Take Two”, “Even when the desert becomes the sea, we swim together / Even the lonely whales, we’re singing like them now / We’re together so I’m not scared of hoping for eternity / Because you’re my belief and my only reason.”
The desert and sea mentioned in the lyrics are spaces in the musical worldview that BTS members and fans ARMY have shared since their debut. Through the hidden track “Road” in BTS’ debut album “2 COOL 4 SKOOL” and the hidden track “Sea” in their 2017 album “Love Yourself: Her”, BTS said, “I thought this (the music industry that they dreamt of) was the ocean but it’s a desert”
This also connects with a scene from BTS’s solo concert “2017 BTS LIVE TRILOGY EPISODE III THE WINGS TOUR THE FINAL”, which was held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul’s Guro District in December 2017. At the time, more than 20,000 spectators who filled the dome promised to continue being with BTS in the future, chanting the slogan, “If We’re Together, Even the Desert Becomes the Sea”
On the other hand, to celebrate their 10th anniversary, BTS has planned various events as part of the “2023 BTS FESTA”. On June 17th, “BTS 10th Anniversary FESTA @ Yeouido” will be held at Yeouido Han River Park in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. In addition to various exhibitions and experiential programs, BTS leader RM will participate in a special corner, where he will interact with fans in person.
