BTS visited the White House and met with U.S. President Joe Biden.
“It was great to meet with you, BTS,” Biden said on his official Twitter account on May 31st (local time). “Thanks for all you’re doing to raise awareness around the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes and discrimination. I look forward to sharing more of our conversation soon,” he said, tagging BTS’s official account.
In addition, a short attached video showed BTS visiting the White House and meeting with President Biden. BTS wore a bright smile in their neat black suit and tie.
First of all, Biden welcomed BTS and said, “This is an important month here in America. A lot of our Asian American friends have been subjected to real discrimination,” he said. “Hate only hides when good people talk about it and say how bad it is, it goes down.”
In response, leader RM said, “We want to say thank you, sincerely, for your decision such as singing the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act into law,” adding, “We just want to be a little help. We truly appreciate the White House and the government’s trying to find solutions,” he replied.
President Biden said, “People care a lot about what you say. What you’re doing is good for all people,” he said. “It’s not just your great talent, it’s the message you’re communicating. It matters,” the President stressed.
Meanwhile, BTS was invited by U.S. President Joe Biden to visit the White House on the occasion of the “AANHPI Heritage Month” and to discuss hate crimes against Asian people.
