BTS Jungkook Surprises Fans with Passionate Performance of “Seven” Despite Downpour

BTS Jungkook has embarked on his official solo activities with his first official solo single “Seven” (feat. Latto).

According to Big Hit Music on July 15th, BTS Jungkook kicked off the ‘2023 Summer Concert Series’ of the ABC’s morning news program “Good Morning America” on July 14th (local time) at Central Park in New York.

The Summer Concert Series is a summer music concert hosted by “Good Morning America” every year. Just the news of Jungkook’s appearance attracted huge attention, and fans flocked to the venue days before to see the stage.

However, the inclement weather was regrettable. Due to the forecast of heavy rain, the broadcast for the day was replaced with a pre-recorded version. However, Jungkook passionately performed for the audience who had been waiting for a long time.

He presented the newly released “Seven,” the previously released solo song “Euphoria,” and BTS’s mega-hit song “Dynamite” with live sessions, showing off his explosive energy.

Jungkook walked down the aisle among the seats, opening the 2023 Summer Concert Series with “Euphoria.” The highlight of Jungkook’s performance that day was undoubtedly the “Seven” stage. Having unveiled his first solo single stage, Jungkook continued to embellish the kickoff stage of the concert series with a splendid rendition of “Dynamite.”

In an interview with the MC, Jungkook expressed his gratitude to the audience, “I wanted to show a great (live) performance with the overflowing energy of the fans, but it’s regrettable.”

Jungkook expressed his gratitude to ARMYs, who stayed at the venue despite the bad weather, above all. He said, “I think I was able to finish the stage very well thanks to all of you. It’s not just today, so please look forward to more.”

Despite the unexpected bad weather, ARMYs praised Jungkook for passionately singing and dancing on the Summer Concert Series stage, which overlapped with the raining scenes in the MV. Jungkook apologized to the waiting ARMYs by saying that he couldn’t show them a proper stage.

In addition, “Seven” also dominated the global music charts. As of 9 a.m. KST on July 15, it reached the top spot on the iTunes ‘Top Songs’ chart in 106 countries/regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, and France.

The clean version and instrumental version of “Seven” climbed to 2nd and 3rd place on various countries/regions’ iTunes ‘Top Songs’ charts, achieving a consecutive lineup. The previously released self-composed songs “Still With You” and “My Universe” also ranked high on the charts.

“Seven” also showed remarkable success on domestic charts. It reached the top of Melon, the largest music streaming site in Korea, in the top 100 (as of midnight on July 15th), and it is maintaining the 2nd place as of 9 a.m. KST. On Genie and Bugs as well, it rose to the top of the real-time charts.
