BTS Jin, “I produced my solo song with Coldplay and rewrote the English lyrics in Korean”

Jin, a member of the boy group BTS, talked about the production of his solo song “The Astronaut” with the British band Coldplay.

On November 12th, episodes 1 and 2 of “Jin’s Traditional Alcohol Journey” were released under the title “BTS Jin with Baek Jong Won” on the Youtube channel “BANGTANTV”. In the videos, Jin went out to learn how to make traditional alcohol with Baek Jong Won.

Jin said, “I’m releasing a new song soon”, then asked Baek Jong Won, “Have you heard of the British band Coldplay?”. In response, Baek Jong Won wondered, “Cold… players?”, as he didn’t know the band. Jin explained, “They gave me a song, on which I wrote lyrics”. He then let Baek Jong Won listen to his solo song “The Astronaut” ahead of its release on October 28th.

Jin shared, “I always liked band music like this. We worked together once before as a group, and I liked working with them so much that I asked if they had any songs for me as a solo. They asked me, ‘Which style do you want to sing?’ So I gave them some references. They also asked what kind of message I wanted to embed. Since the lyrics are also important, I told them I wanted to incorporate my love for our fans with a lovely, fun vibe.

Baek Jong-won praised, “I think you’re that blessed with people. You can pretty much get along with anyone, especially those who are older than you.” Jin smilingly replied, “This gets much more difficult when I speak another language, though.

Jin said, “I got such a great song, and was very happy with this.” Baek Jong Won, who heard the song, gave a favorable review, “Wow, this is nice! It gets much brighter.” Jin revealed, “Two days before I went to the United States to shoot this music video, Chris Martin thought Korean lyrics would sound better than the English ones, so he asked if I could rewrite the lyrics in Korean. There were more English lyrics before. Our members said it was good as well.
