BTS member Jin (Kim Seok-jin) and The Born Korea CEO Baek Jong-won’s jointly established agricultural corporation, Jini’s Lamp, has come under scrutiny after being reported to the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service for violating the Origin Labeling Act.
On September 23, a post surfaced on an online community claiming Jini’s Lamp had been reported. The individual, identified as A, stated that they personally filed the complaint, alleging that some of the company’s highball products carried misleading origin labeling.

The products in question were flavors from the distilled liquor IGIN series released last year, including plum and watermelon. While Jini’s Lamp’s official website listed “plum concentrate (Chile)” and “watermelon concentrate (USA)” as foreign-sourced ingredients, some product information pages mistakenly labeled them as “domestic.” The errors have reportedly been corrected.
On September 24, a Jini’s Lamp representative told Chosun.com: “All Jini’s Lamp products have been verified as compliant with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety regulations, and origin labeling is accurately provided on product labels.” They added that during online sales, product details from other flavor pages were mistakenly posted for a short period but were promptly fixed.

The company also emphasized: “If an official investigation is requested, we will fully cooperate, and we reiterate that there are no violations regarding origin labeling on the product details themselves.”
Under Korean law, violations of origin labeling can result in up to seven years in prison or fines of up to 100 million won. Notably, The Born Korea had already faced indictment in June for a similar violation involving the company and one of its employees.
