BTS Jimin conquers pop’s homeland, the UK

Jimin of BTS shook the United Kingdom, the homeland of pop music, with his global popularity.

According to the UK Official Charts, which used “King JIMIN” and “K-pop king” as accompanying titles, Jimin’s “Like Crazy” ranked 8th on the “Top 100” chart (March 31st to April 6th) in its first week of entry.

This is the highest rank for a Korean solo artist, with Jimin surpassing his previous personal best record of 30th with the pre-released track “Set Me Free Pt.2”.

Jimin has demonstrated his powerful solo power by charting a total of 4 songs, including “Like Crazy”, “Set Me Free Pt.2”, his solo track “Filter” from BTS’s fourth album “Map of the Soul: 7”, and his collaboration song “VIBE” with Taeyang.

At the same time, the whirlwind Jimin has created in the UK is not limited to this. Following “Set Me Free Pt.2”, which ranked 1st on the Official Download Chart last week, “Like Crazy” also reached 1st place this week, making Jimin a K-pop solo artist with two songs that debuted at No.1 on the chart.

Moreover, Jimin also ranked 2nd on the Official Single Sales Chart, 19th on the Video Streaming Chart, and 74th on the Audio Streaming Chart, the highest rank for a K-pop solo artist in the past 10 years, proving his insane impact.

Based on iTunes sales, Apple Music streaming, and radio broadcasts, the UK Radio Network’s (Capital, Heart) chart show “The Official Big Top 40” placed “Like Crazy” at number 3. Last week, “Like Crazy” debuted at number 4, but this week it climbed to number 3, setting a new record for K-pop solo artists since Psy’s “Gangnam Style”.

As a result, Jimin also set a milestone for entering the top five with two consecutive songs, “Set Me Free Pt. 2” and “Like Crazy”.

Meanwhile, on local radio stations, Jimin’s performance on the popular American NBC talk show “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” was mentioned during the introduction of “Like Crazy”, and the male idol was even compared to Michael Jackson. They also showered Jimin with praise, saying, “He makes good music, has a beautiful and unique voice, fantastic visuals, stunning performances, and shows the charisma of an artist,” and calling him a “superstar.”

Having reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Jimin has also made his mark on the UK Official Charts, one of the world’s two major charts alongside Billboard, and several other charts in the UK, which are known for their high barriers to entry.
