BTS J-Hope Talks Enlistment Date and Preparing for Military Duty, Promises Heartfelt Gifts for Fans
On March 16th, J-Hope held a live broadcast on Weverse to celebrate his Mnet’s “M Countdown” win.
J-Hope said, “It was all thanks to you guys”, adding “I came here to say thank you”, expressing his gratitude to fans who congratulated him on winning two trophies.
He confessed, “I can’t tell you about that exactly in detail, but the date has already been set and I think it’s time for me to start preparing for my enlistment.”
When a fan commented, “J-Hope, give ARMY (BTS’s fandom) a hug before going to the army”, J-Hope smiled and said, “I will hug you guys before I enlist”.
Meanwhile, J-Hope announced that he had filed the application to cancel his enlistment postponement to begin the process of fulfilling his military duty last month. He will be the second member of BTS to enlist following the eldest member Jin.
J-Hope shared, “After Jin hyung enlisted, I thought about when I should do it, and decided that it would be better for me to go and return as soon as possible to show a better side of myself.”
Jin became the first BTS member to join the military on December 13th last year. Revealing that he talked to Jin on the phone, J-Hope said, “As soon as it was announced, I received his message saying, ‘I heard the news, J-Hope’. I asked him about various things and what I needed to do then he gave me advice.”
In particular, J-Hope said, “You all know me so well, right? I have thoroughly prepared various contents that can relieve and comfort your longing for me during my military service period. There are many things that I have already filmed in advance”, adding “I have also prepared a gift for all of you, so please look forward to it.”
The first gift J-Hope prepared is a solo single. He released the solo single “on the street (with J.Cole)” on March 3rd. The song ranked 60th on Billboard’s Main Single Chart ‘HOT 100’.
“on the street (with J.Cole)” also charted No.2 in ‘Digital Song Sales’ and No.16 in ‘Global 200’ as well as ‘Global Excl. US’. In addition, J-Hope set a new record by placing 37th on the ‘TOP 100’ of the latest UK Official Chart (counting from March 10th ~16th) with that single.
