Bong Joon-ho & Yoon Jong-shin Holds Press Conference Dealing With Problems Related To Lee Sun-kyun’s Death

On January 9th, the Association of Cultural Artists stated, “We will announce a statement titled ‘Demands of cultural artists facing the death of the late actor Lee Sun-kyun’ at the press conference on the morning of the 12th”.

The Association of Cultural Artists explained, “The Association of Cultural Artists, which was formed by around 29 cultural and arts organizations, faced the sad death of the late actor Lee Sun-kyun, who passed away on December 27th last year, and we agreed that this should not be repeated. We plan to request a thorough investigation by law enforcement authorities and ask the media to refrain from issuing articles that do not meet the purpose of reporting and delete such articles. In addition, we also demand a revision of existing laws to protect the human rights of cultural and art individuals”.

Director Bong Joon-ho, singer & composer Yoon Jong-shin, director Lee Won-tae, actor Choi Deok-moon, Chairman of the Korea Independent Film Association Go Young-jae, and Korean Film Producers Association Chairman Choi Jung-hwa will attend the event.

Lee Sun-kyun passed away on December 27th last year. He was booked without detention on October 23rd for drug use. Even after the third police summons, the late actor consistently denied the drug allegations as he already tested negative in all kinds of drug tests.

Following Lee Sun-kyun’s death, the actor’s agency issued a statement requesting the media and netizens to refrain from spreading false information and malicious reports.
