BLACKPINK’s Tokyo Dome Concert a Huge Success with 110,000 Fans Over Two Days

BLACKPINK proved their popularity in Japan once again by filling Tokyo Dome with cheers from their fans.

BLACKPINK held their “BLACKPINK World Tour [In Your Area] Japan” at Tokyo Dome on the 8th and 9th of April. This concert, which was planned to be more than twice the size of their previous world tour “In Your Area” in 2019, received a lot of attention from local media and fans well in advance.

Tickets sold out at an unprecedented rate, including the limited-view seats that were opened the day before the concert. A pop-up store in the center of Tokyo’s Shibuya district also drew huge crowds a week before the concert. A total of 110,000 fans filled the venue over the two-day event, showing BLACKPINK’s overwhelming power.

BLACKPINK responded to their fans’ expectations with a passionate opening that was more energetic than usual. They performed powerful songs like “How You Like That,” “Pretty Savage,” and “Whistle,” and also played mega-hits like “Shut Down,” the title track from their second full-length album “Born Pink,” which topped the album charts of both the US Billboard and UK Official Charts, as well as “Kill This Love,” “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” and “Lovesick Girls.”

Not only as a group but also with their individual charm, each member’s solo performances heated up the venue. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa overwhelmed the vast Tokyo Dome with their unique aura and musical color.

Especially, Jisoo showed her first live performance of the title track “Flower” from her solo album “ME,” which was released in March. Her unique charm, overwhelming choreography with dancers, and elaborate production that maximized the theme of the song attracted enthusiastic responses from the audience.

The members continued to perform tirelessly, from the original setlist to the encore, showing off their performance prowess once again. The various visual elements that showcase the rich band sound and YG Entertainment’s stage know-how also captivated fans’ hearts. Fans stood up from the beginning, waving their light sticks and singing along until the very end.

BLACKPINK is currently on their largest-scale world tour for a K-pop girl group, attracting approximately 1.5 million fans. After successfully completing 14 shows in seven cities in North America and ten shows in seven cities in Europe last year, they are now meeting more fans in Asia. They will meet their Japanese fans again at the Kyocera Dome Osaka on June 3-4, and the tickets have already been sold out. The concert will be broadcasted live on Japan’s largest OTT platform, U-NEXT.
