BLACKPINK’s stage costumes received criticisms for underwhelming and inconsistent looks

Mixed reviews poured in over the lack of attention to the group’s only stage outfit for “Shut Down”.

On the 26th, My Daily reported BLACKPINK’s “Shut Down” performance on the Inkigayo stage of SBS. This was the first and only promotional stage for this comeback. Therefore, the public had high expectations of the group management company, YG Entertainment, to do a careful job with their stage costumes.

However, BLACKPINK’s performance outfits are a heated topic of debate. The costumes were remarked to be downward in quality and less invested compared with their other promotions.

By public opinion, Jennie and Lisa wore the most beautiful clothing items where the “Solo” singer put on a uniform-inspired outfit and Lisa boasted her sporty look. Meanwhile, Jisoo and Rosé were commented to be wearing plain clothes. Whereas Rosé was similar to her everyday looks, Jisoo did not have any accessories and only wore a plain black body suit.

When the stage photos were released, fans could not hide their disappointment. Many audiences even felt BLACKPINK did not look like a group under one of the biggest entertainment companies in Korea, YG Entertainment.

Some netizens blamed the stylists for putting little thoughts and not making enough efforts to change up their styles and images. Apart from the lack of breakthrough, the individual’s outfits seemed incoherent and inconsistent. They seemed to have performed 4 different songs with different styles.
