BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom” has already surpassed 200 million views, becoming the fastest Kpop MV to reach this milestone in 2022

The music video for BLACKPINK’s pre-release single, “Pink Venom”, has surpassed 200 million views on YouTube.

According to YG Entertainment on August 27th, BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom” music video surpassed 200 million YouTube views at 2:11 AM (KST) on the same day. It’s been about 7 days and 13 hours since the MV was released at 1 PM (KST) on August 19th, and this is the shortest record of 200 million views (7 days, 46 minutes) for a K-pop girl group music video, surpassing BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That”, the 2nd fastest. 

In addition, “Pink Venom” is also the fastest music video released in 2022 by a K-Pop artist to surpass 200 million views on YouTube. “Pink Venom” has become BLACKPINK’s 11th MV to reach this milestone, after “BOOMBAYAH”, “Whistle”, “Playing With Fire”, “Stay”, “As If It’s Your Last”, “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” ” , “Kill This Love”, “How You Like That”, “Ice Cream (with Selena Gomez)” and “Lovesick Girls”.

Earlier, YouTube confirmed that “Pink Venom” received 90.4 million views within the first 24 hours of release, breaking the world’s record for a female artist. As “Pink Venom” is a pre-release song for BLACKPINK’s 2nd full album “Born Pink”, anticipation for the title song of “Born Pink” is being raised higher than ever, especially after the almost-2-year wait for the group comeback.

On the other hand, after “Pink Venom”, BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel has witnessed an intense increase in the number of subscribers. In particular, around the release date of “Pink Venom” MV, the number of subscribers increased by nearly 2.3 million at once, and has now surpassed 79 million. At this rate of increase, BLACKPINK will become the first artist in the world to reach 80 million YouTube subscribers.

Meanwhile, “Pink Venom” is  gaining popularity by sweeping various global charts in addition to YouTube. The song topped the Spotify’s Global Top Song chart for 3 days in a row, and has so far topped the iTunes song charts in 75 countries, including the US and UK. In addition, it has secured 1st place on Korean music shows “Show! Champion” and “M Countdown”, despite BLACKPINK hasn’t even performed the song yet.
