BLACKPINK opened the door to the Asian leg of their world tour in Lisa’s home country, Thailand.
BLACKPINK held “BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] in BANGKOK” at the National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on January 7th and 8th. As it is the first concert of the Asian tour, and BLACKPINK’s first return to Thailand in about 4 years since January 2019, the interest in the group was more explosive than ever.
Thailand’s National Stadium is one of the world’s most popular venues for pop stars. BLACKPINK was the first female artist in the world to enter the main stadium. About 85,000 fans attended their concert for two days, showing BLACKPINK’s extraordinary status and influence in the country.
The area around the concert hall was crowded with fans from early hours. In particular, on the first day, a random dance play event with fans’ voluntary participation drew attention. Hundreds of Blinks gathered in one place, along with YG’s representative character Krunk, performed the dance and danced along to BLACKPINK’s songs in a festive atmosphere.
As if responding to fans’ expectations, BLACKPINK poured their passion into their performances. Starting with “How You Like That”, they performed not only a relay of hit songs such as “Lovesick Girls”, “Kill This Love”, “Pink Venom” and “Shut Down”, but also solo stages that showed off the individual charms of each member. The overwhelming live performance harmonized with the lively sound of the band made fans get up from their seats and scream with enthusiasm.
The stage effect suitable for the large stadium also overwhelmed the view. Colorful lasers further accentuated BLACKPINK’s presence. The endless firecrackers and flames further raised the hot temperature of Bangkok’s summer night. The splendid lighting raised the atmosphere of the concert to the fullest by illuminating everywhere in the audience, which was swaying with waves of pink lightsticks.
Standing on the stage of her hometown for the first time in a while, Lisa was constantly amazed at the enthusiastic response of local fans. She expressed her sincerity, “I really missed you guys. I’m happy to see so many people cheering for us. It’s amazing. I wanted to give a lot of energy to Blinks who are far away. I hope to see you here again.”
The other members said, “It feels good to see Lisa happy. We are surprised by the enthusiasm of the fans in Bangkok. Thank you for always being by our side, and it was fun to be with you. BLACKPINK is going on the largest world tour of a K-pop girl group, attracting about 1.5 million people. Starting with the first show in Seoul last year, BLACKPINK has completed 14 North American concerts in 7 cities and 10 European shows in 7 cities. BLACKPINK has now moved to Asia and successfully completed the Bangkok concert. They plan to hold 18 concerts in 11 Asian cities including Hong Kong and Japan.
