According to YG Entertainment on November 29th, the Exclusive Performance Video of Lisa‘s solo song “MONEY” exceeded 300 million views on YouTube at 4:11 a.m. on the same day.
This is the achievement gained in the shortest period of K-pop choreography videos that reached the same number of views, only about 66 days after it was released on September 24. The previous record was 76 days broken by BLACKPINK‘s “How You Like That.”
It is rare for choreography videos, not music videos, to surpass hundreds of millions of views in such a short period of time. In particular, considering Lisa’s lack of broadcasting or promotional activities related to “MONEY,” it shows the love of global music fans for this song.
“MONEY” is a song characterized by sophisticated hip-hop sound and rap lyrics that is full of swag. 2 months after the song was released, it suddenly went viral, reversing its popularity and ranking on top of numerous major music charts in the world.
“MONEY” topped the iTunes Top Song Chart in a total of 38 countries and ranked 5th on the Spotify Global Chart. The song then entered the world’s most famous pop charts, the U.K’s Official Single Top 100 and the U.S Billboard Hot 100 Chart, for eight and two consecutive weeks, respectively. With this song, Lisa has set several new records for the first time as a KPOP female solo singer.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s official Youtube channel, which gained a total of 32 billion views, surpassed 70 million subscribers yesterday (November 28th), further solidifying their No.1 position in the world Youtube chart. BLACKPINK has gained nearly 5 million subscribers more since Lisa’s successful solo debut, indicating that not only BLACKPINK as a whole group but each member also has great influence.
