BLACKPINK Jisoo needs what to surpass Lisa’s solo achievements?

The outstanding success of BLACKPINK Lisa’s solo debut success sets a high bar for her group mate, Jisoo, to match.

YG Entertainment recently announced that BLACKPINK Jisoo is set to release her solo debut on March 31st. The project was expected to be delayed until the end of 2023 due to the group’s busy touring schedule, but Jisoo’s solo project was announced earlier than expected, much to the delight of her fans.

Jisoo is the last member of Blackpink to make her solo debut, and YG Entertainment previously revealed that her music video will be shot overseas and will have the biggest investment among all of BLACKPINK’s solo projects. As such, there are high expectations for Jisoo’s solo debut, especially in terms of matching Lisa’s impressive solo debut records.

In the past, Lisa’s solo album, LALISA, set a new record on Ktown4u by achieving 96,844 pre-orders within the first 24 hours of sales. This made Lisa the female artist with the most album pre-orders on Ktown4u within the first 24 hours, surpassing even her own groupmate Rosé, whose solo album “R” achieved 77,000 pre-orders within the first 24 hours on the same platform. However, after only 8 hours of sales reservation, pre-orders for Jisoo’s solo album has surpassed 100,000 copies, making her solo debut even more high-anticipated.

At the same time, Jisoo also needs to have a large amount of online streams and music video views on platforms such as YouTube and Spotify.

Lisa’s solo MV “LALISA” garnered 73.6 million views within the first 24 hours of its release on YouTube, ranking 6th among all artists with the highest MV views within the first 24 hours worldwide. While this will be a hard feat for Jisoo’s solo to match, high expectations from fans and the entire industry may make it possible.

There’s simply a lot to look forward to in Jisoo’s upcoming release.
