BLACKPINK Jennie received advice from Rosé for Met Gala, listed as a best-dresser
Jennie of girl group BLACKPINK showed off an elegant and fairy-like beauty as she appeared at the Met Gala for the first time.
On May 1st, 2023 (local time) BLACKPINK Jennie appeared at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, USA, to attend the world’s largest charity fashion event, the Met Gala. This year’s theme was the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019 at the age of 85. As a result, numerous global celebrities drew attention by presenting costumes dedicated to Lagerfeld.
Korean stars like Jennie, Song Hye Kyo, and Choi So Ra also attended the event and drew attention. In particular, Jennie appeared wearing a Chanel mini dress, fitting her title as “Human Chanel”, which was earned from her work as Chanel’s ambassador.
Meanwhile, Jennie’s outfit was a vintage white mini dress from Chanel’s 1990 collection, paired with black gloves, black stockings, and white flower decorations symbolizing Chanel. Jennie revealed in an interview with Vogue that she received advice from fellow BLACKPINK member Rosé, who attended the Met Gala in the past. “Rosé told me to just enjoy it, so that’s the plan for today”, the female idol said.
At the same time, Jennie expressed her happiness and gratitude to the Chanel team for her outfit, which was designed by Lagerfeld. Many foreign media outlets focused on Jennie’s appearance, and American magazine W named her one of the best-dressed people at the Met Gala, along with Rihanna and Nicole Kidman.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK recently performed as the first K-pop headliner at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the US, drawing enthusiastic responses from fans worldwide. They will also be the first K-pop artist to appear as a headliner at the British music festival “Hyde Park British Summertime Festival”, which will be held in July.
