BLACKPINK is the first girl group in the world to be named “Entertainer of the Year” by TIME

BLACKPINK has been selected as the 2022 Entertainer of the Year by TIME, an American magazine, for the first time for a girl group in the world.

BLACKPINK was named “Entertainer of the Year” on the list of the most influential people in each field this year published by TIME magazine on the official website on December 5th (local time).

TIME magazine said, “BLACKPINK is a trend-setting icon of the present era, and has become the biggest girl group in the world that no one can deny. Through the full album, they have set multiple records.”

“BLACKPINK says they are ordinary girls, but in fact, their 2022 is absolutely not ordinary. They performed at the MTV VMAs in August and are on a mega world tour. Their concerts are sold out in minutes, and it is a blockbuster show attended by famous pop stars such as Selena Gomez and Usher. They have the highest number of YouTube subscribers among artists in the world.”

BLACKPINK expressed their feelings to TIME magazine, “We are the happiest when we do music. We are enjoying every moment happily, so we have achieved good results along with it.” Next, regarding BLINKs, BLACKPINK said, “We think the greatest power is the fans who always love and support us unchangingly. We will do our best every moment with a grateful heart.”

Previously, BLACKPINK was selected as one of the “TIME 100 NEXT 2019” figures, drawing attention as an artist who is expected to have a global influence. BLACKPINK has steadily raised K-pop status, including being nominated for 2020’s “Person of the Year”.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is going on the largest world tour of a K-pop girl group, attracting about 1.5 million people.  BLACKPINK, who met a total of 200,000 fans by selling out all tickets for 14 shows in 7 cities in North America, has now moved to Europe and successfully held 10 shows in 7 cities.  From next year, BLACKPINK plans to head to Asia and Oceania.
