BLACKPINK draws mixed reactions for cursing at Coachella 2023, a producer from The Black Label shows their personal take 

BLACKPINK’s unconventional interaction with fans at Coachella 2023 receives different opinions from different audiences. 

Coachella 2023 was a memorable experience and a new milestone for BLACKPINK. They were the first K-pop act to headline the music festival while showing up at top places on the “Top 10 Most Mentioned Artists on Social Media During Coachella 2023”.

However, apart from the positive achievements, the public is showing negative responses to BLACKPINK’s interactions with the audience at the festival. They felt it to be inappropriate for the girl group to excessively use curse words live. They expressed that BLACKPINK should manage their image more, as more young adults are looking up to them as a role model. 

However, on the “Zach Sang Show” aired on April 24th, producer LOREN considered the matter from a different perspective. He was initially surprised and confused as everyone else when BLACKPINK cursed onstage. Nonetheless, LORREN found it to be “cool”, as it broke the boundary between the “carefully-crafted idol images” and “actually being rock stars”. 

LOREN is a solo singer, DJ, and producer under The Black Label. He is the son of the founder of the Naver portal and has appeared in BLACKPINK’s “Lovesick Girl” M/V. He also helped them with the lyrics of several songs.
