BLACKPINK Becomes First-Ever Artist to Surpass 90 Million Subscribers on YouTube

Girl group BLACKPINK has once again proven their power as the global “YouTube Queen.”

On July 17th, BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel surpassed 90 million subscribers at 5:36 am KST. It has been approximately 7 years and 1 month since BLACKPINK’s channel was opened on June 28th, 2016. This achievement is the first and highest record among all artists worldwide.

In particular, from October 2022 when they held a concert in Seoul until June of this year, BLACKPINK attracted approximately 7 million subscribers, showing the highest growth rate among K-pop artists during that period. With the ongoing successful world tour and Jisoo’s solo debut, it is analyzed that BLACKPINK has attracted a large number of new fans.

In July 2020, BLACKPINK made a strong presence by becoming the first non-English-speaking artist to enter the “Top 5 YouTube Subscribers” list. Since then, they have surpassed famous pop stars such as Ariana Grande, Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Marshmello, and Justin Bieber one by one, standing at the top of the global artist rankings.

Considering YouTube’s role as a leading force in shaping the global music market, BLACKPINK’s power is extraordinary. The number of subscribers is considered an indicator of loyal fans’ continuous interest and anticipation, rather than mere curiosity or one-time views.

In addition, BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel has accumulated over 32.2 billion views. They have a total of 43 videos with billions of views, including “DDU-DU DDU-DU” MV recording 2 billion views, making them the first K-pop group to achieve this milestone, along with “Kill This Love” (1.8 billion views), “BOOMBAYAH” (1.6 billion views), “How You Like That” performance video (1.4 billion views), and “As If It’s Your Last” (1.3 billion views).
