“Black Little Mermaid” Halle Bailey sets the bar and cannot be surpassed, said producer

The main trailer and behind-the-scenes of “The Little Mermaid” have been released, along with a special video featuring the actors’ thoughts.

On April 24th, the official YouTube channel of Disney Korea uploaded a video titled “[The Little Mermaid] ‘Beginning of the Dream’ Special Video”.

In the video, Halle Bailey, who plays Ariel, opened up by sharing her excitement about taking on the role. “When I first saw the original ‘The Little Mermaid’, my whole world changed”, the singer-actress confessed, adding, “Like so many other little girls, we all just want to be mermaids”. 

Meanwhile, Director Rob Marshall, who produced the live-action “The Little Mermaid”, mentioned, “I think ‘The Little Mermaid is an iconic and powerful story. I wanted to expand that world and make a fuller experience.” 

He also praised Bailey’s singing, saying, “Halle Bailey, when she sang for us, it was so emotional. She set the bar, and no one ever surpassed her.” 

At the same time, Melissa McCarthy, who plays the role of the witch Ursula, introduced her character as “dishy and conniving.”

The latter part of the video features Halle Bailey recording the Little Mermaid OST, attracting attention with her unique, charming voice and exceptional vocal range. She is expected to treat fans to an “auditory feast” in the movie.

Meanwhile, Disney’s live-action musical film “The Little Mermaid” follows the adventure of Ariel, a curious and adventurous mermaid who dreams of the world beyond the sea. She saves Prince Eric from a shipwreck and follows her heart to explore the forbidden human world.
