K-pop group BIGBANG is drawing major attention as they celebrate their 20th debut anniversary with a series of large-scale projects—including a Coachella performance, a world tour, and a new album release. Alongside these announcements, the group has launched official social media accounts, marking the start of a full-fledged comeback rollout. Notably, the group’s decision to follow former member T.O.P has sparked widespread speculation.

On April 21, BIGBANG simultaneously opened their official community on the global fandom platform b.stage and SNS channels, timed precisely at 8:19 PM to symbolize their debut date (August 19). According to reports, the initiative was strongly driven by the members themselves. YG Entertainment, which is overseeing the group’s 20th anniversary project, stated that the new channels aim to bring BIGBANG closer to fans under their iconic group name.

What caught fans’ attention most was the account’s following list. In addition to YG Entertainment and members G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung, the official account also followed T.O.P—despite his previous declaration of departure from the group.

Earlier this month, T.O.P released his first full-length album Another Dimension, in which he openly referenced BIGBANG, seemingly confirming a “complete separation.” The album included lyrics addressing his past controversies—such as marijuana use allegations, distancing from BIGBANG’s legacy, and even hints of retirement. Tracks like OVAYA (A SMALL, FILTHY SHOW WINDOW) contained lines interpreted as him leaving behind the group’s shared history to pursue his own path.

However, BIGBANG’s decision to follow T.O.P has reignited speculation. While some see it as a simple gesture, others believe it suggests that ties between the members may not be entirely severed behind the scenes. This has led to renewed hopes among fans for a potential four-member reunion.

On the other hand, some interpret the move as a sign of respect toward a former member rather than a hint of reconciliation. Given T.O.P’s strong statements about leaving the group, many believe that a reunion would face significant practical and emotional barriers. There are also concerns that such ambiguous signals could raise false hopes among fans.

Adding fuel to the speculation, during their performances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 12 and 19, BIGBANG performed their song Still Life while keeping T.O.P’s recorded voice intact. At that moment, G-Dragon even looked up and made a salute gesture, further stirring emotions among fans.

As BIGBANG marks two decades in the industry, all eyes are on what message they intended to convey through this SNS move—and whether it signals a new chapter or simply a nostalgic nod to their past.
