BIGBANG Taeyang reveals his thoughts about the promotion trends of Gen Z Idols?

Despite his years of experience, Taeyang still feels a bit of pressure when approaching the new promotion trends.

BIGBANG Taeyang, who recently returned with his new solo album “Down to Earth”, became the cover model for Vogue Singapore and had an insightful interview.

As more than 5 years have passed since Taeyang’s last solo return in 2017, the Kpop industry has undergone vast changes, with new trends, new promotion methods, as well as much younger and different artists. Going along with the times, Taeyang openly shared about the prevailing trends and their impact on a 2nd generation idol like him.

Since returning to the music scene, Taeyang actively participates in many social media platforms and is eager to “follow the trend” of dancing with other artists.

In particular, Taeyang admitted that promoting music today is not as simple as releasing an album like in previous years.

“I was exposed to third and fourth generations of Kpop idols through other soldiers when I was in the army and so I learnt more about how their generation was culturally different from me,” the male idol said, adding, “I became curious about how they approach things. Through my daily interactions with them, I began to understand more about the different trends or platforms they were interested in.”

For an artist with many years of experience, Taeyang feels like a rookie amidst all the new things. He also mentioned the emerging “dance challenge” trend specifically, and confessed, “I opened up to the idea of trying dance challenges or partaking in new platforms, but it would be a lie if I said that there was no pressure to try these new things that I had never tried before. When I actually tried it though, it was easier than I thought,”

On the other hand, Taeyang’s latest album, “Down to Earth”, which consists of 6 music tracks, was released on April 25th.

Returning after a long absence, the BIGBANG member still proves his popularity and prevalence, with songs warmly received by the public. “Down to Earth” also includes exciting features from other artists, with the tracks “VIBE” (feat. Jimin of BTS), “Inspiration” (feat. Beenzino), “Shoong!” (feat. Lisa of BLACKPINK), and “Nightfall” (feat. Bryan Chase).
