“Big Mouth” Ok Ja-yeon: “There’s a misunderstanding in the ending, something happened after being locked in the mental hospital”

Actress Ok Ja-yeon raised fans’ expectations as she mentioned “Big Mouth Season 2”.

On September 20th, Ok Ja-yeon had an interview with Sport Today at a cafe in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and expressed her thoughts after the end of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama “Big Mouth” (scripted by Kim Ha-ra/ directed by Oh Chung-hwan).

“Big Mouth” tells the story of a lawyer with 10% winning rate who accidentally got caught up in a murder case and became the genius conman Big Mouse. He has to dig into the bare face of the privileged class stained with a huge conspiracy to survive and protect his family.

Ok Ja-yeon played the role of Hyun Joo-hee, Choi Do-ha (Kim Joo-heon)’s wife and the director of Gucheon Hospital.

“Big Mouth” gained huge love from the viewers and even broke its own highest viewer rating record by achieving 13.7% in the final episode. However, lots of people showed regret over the ending of the drama, pointing out that the drama seemed to have been wrapped up in a hurry.

Ok Ja-yeon already knew about the viewers’ response. Referring to the ending, she said, “The character Ko Mi-ho also died quickly as she was diagnosed with the end stage of Lymphoma. It was so fast that made many people wonder, ‘If the drama had 20 episodes…’. In fact, fast storytelling is one of the charms of ‘Big Mouth’ and the viewers loved and supported Ko Mi-ho so much. I also think it was a bummer to end the drama early like that.”

In addition, the actress shared, “While building up my character (Hyun Joo-hee), the writer said, ‘Hyun Joo-hee has a lot of internal conflicts at the beginning but she will play an important from the middle of the story’”, adding “It would have been so nice to if Jang Hye-jin (Hong Ji-hee) and Ko Mi-ho, who both died, or the survived one Joo-hee could say something about the situation that went wrong. That’s my own regret”.

Although the drama ended when the “final villain” Choi Do-ha died and Hyun Joo-hee helped dig up the truth that had been hidden in court, there are still unsolved details, such as the psychopath son of Chairman Kang (Jeon Guk-hwan) who was expelled from the U.S.

While the viewers are questioning the ending of “Big Mouth”, Ok Ja-yeon mentioned Season 2 and raised fans’ expectations. She said, “I heard people are looking forward to Season 2. If Season 2 were to be made, I wonder if I would be able to greet you through it”.

She added, “Choi Do-ha and Chairman Kang had many secrets and Hyun Joo-hee can reveal them. Park Chang-ho (Lee Jong-seok), who has become ‘Big Mouse’ also has his own hidden corners, and Gong Ji-hoon (Yang Kyung-won) should not be left out. We can look forward to seeing those things in Season 2”, expressing expectations for the next season.
