Besides Son Ye Jin, this veteran actress also turned down the offer to star in K-drama “Curtain Call” led by Kang Ha Neul

Initially, Kang Ha Neul was supposed to act in “Curtain Call” alongside Son Ye Jin and this veteran actress. 

“Curtain Call” is an upcoming drama set to air on October 31. The drama stars Kang Ha Neul, Ha Ji Won and Go Doo Shim. Perhaps if it weren’t for her pregnancy, the character played by Ha Ji Won would have been Son Ye Jin’s new drama role after “Thirty, Nine”, as she was reportedly offered the part long before the filming began. Not only Son Ye Jin but also Go Doo Shim’s character was originally offered to another actress, Youn Yuh Jung.

The role that Youn Yuh Jung turned down is Ja Geum Soon, a woman born in 1930 in North Korea. Due to some issues in the past, she now lives in South Korea and has lost contact with her husband and children. With the desire to find her family again, she founded a small hotel and hopes that her family will one day come find her. This hotel after many years of operation has become a prosperous Nakwon hotel chain, but she has not had the opportunity to reunite with her loved ones. 

Ja Geum Soon is also no longer young, and she has only one wish, to see her grandson she has never met: Im Moon Sung. Her loyal assistant, Jung Sang Cheol, hatches a plan to help fulfill her biggest wish before she dies by hiring an actor to impersonate Im Moon Sung and the chosen one is Yoo Jae Heon (Kang Ha Neul).

So far, the reason for Youn Yuh Jung turning down the offer to play Ja Geum Soon has not been revealed, but her replacement is also an equally excellent name, Go Doo Shim.

Youn Yuh Jung is an Oscars winner with a critically acclaimed filmography and well-respected career. At the age of 75, she is still devoted to acting. She recently starred in Apple TV+’s original series “Pachinko”.
