Barbie Hsu’s former mother-in-law is making a fortune by slandering her and Koo Jun Yup online
Entrepreneur Zhang Lan, the former mother-in-law of Barbie Hsu, is making banks from doing live broadcasts slandering her.
According to a recent report by Taiwanese media Sanlih News Network, Zhang Lan, the mother of Barbie Hsu’s ex-husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, has bagged hundreds of millions of yuan in profits through a global platform for short contents. The problem is the way Zhang Lan made her money. Through her live broadcasts, Zhang Lan slanders Barbie Hsu and her husband Koo Jun Yup, to attract buyers for her business.
Zhang Lan held live broadcasts several times, slandering Barbie Hsu and her family and even swearing at her. At the same time, she did not forget to sell her own brand’s products. According to Chinese media, the products that Zhang Lan sold during her live broadcasts earned about 785 million Taiwan dollars (approximately 35 billion Korean won).
Zhang Lan also admitted that she changed her nationality to non-Chinese nationality through a live broadcast. She has lived in Beijing, China, for a long time doing her business, but she is said to have been naturalized in Saint Kitts and Nevis as early as 2012.
Earlier, when Barbie Hsu applied for enforcement against her ex-husband Wang Xiaofei at the Taipei District Court in Taiwan for non-payment of living expenses (child support) specified in their divorce agreement, Zhang Lan said through SNS, “Barbie Hsu did not complete the divorce process in China before getting married to Koo Jun Yup. I know Barbie Hsu used drugs every day. Does she have the conscience and humanity living in a house my son bought with his blood and sweat?”

Barbie Hsu and Koo Jun Yup met for the first time in 1998 and broke up after dating for two years. Later, she married Wang Xiaofei, the second-generation Chinese chaebol in 2010, and had a son and a daughter, but eventually divorced. After hearing the news, Koo Jun Yup contacted Barbie Hsu again and they reconnected. They garnered a lot of attention with their surprise wedding announcement.
