BamBam Returns to His Main Job after Various Variety Show Appearances, “I Want to Be an Idol Till The End”

GOT7 member BamBam returns to being an idol, not an entertainer.

The showcase for BamBam‘s first solo full album “Sour&Sweet” was held on March 28 at the Blue Square MasterCard Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

“Sour&Sweet” is an album that incorporates symbolic keywords and personal experiences that represent BamBam as an artist or a human being in its lyrics. With a total of 8 tracks, including the title track “Sour&Sweet,” the album showcases BamBam’s various sides and wide range of musical styles.

The title track, “Sour&Sweet,” is a song that questions the duality inherent in human nature, with BamBam representing his pure image as “Sweet” and expressing the hidden emotions that even he himself is unaware of as “Sour,” creating contrasting images.

BamBam stated, “I wanted to show something new and had a lot of concepts I wanted to try, so I thought a full album was the best choice. This album has a deeper meaning since it has my personal story.”

BamBam added, “It was my first time performing the title track, and I was nervous and burdened. I don’t know how it was received, but I hope people like the song.”

BamBam described the music video for “Sour&Sweet” as “toned down to give a more mature feel. I focused on the storyline in the music video, where I play the role of a detective trying to catch the culprit, only to find out that it is myself. We filmed it in Greece.”

BamBam explained, “I participated in every stage of this album. I went to the US to work on it, chose the title track and other songs, and was heavily involved in mastering, concept, and album color selection. Of course, it was not something I could do alone, and many people at the company worked hard and helped me. I was ambitious since this was a full album. Even when I was shooting variety shows and got home late, I went to the studio and worked hard. I have no regrets.”

BamBam introduced the title track “Sour&Sweet” as a city pop genre song, saying, “It was fun to challenge myself. It’s a great song to listen to when driving at night, and it’s not limited to a particular season. I think it’s a song that can be enjoyed anytime.”

BamBam has been active in popular variety shows such as “Transit Love” and “Master in the House.” “Honestly, I don’t believe it. I still can’t believe it. Many people recognize me when I go around outside. I didn’t think I was that funny. However, I think many people liked my honesty. I’m working hard with gratitude. There are entertainment shows that have not been released yet. Please continue to watch and enjoy it,” he said.

He then talked about his busy schedule and difficulties. He confessed, “If I say I don’t have any difficulties, it’s a lie. Sometimes it’s hard. But I think I’ve adjusted to life these days. Of course, when I meet people who are good at entertainment shows, no matter how good I speak Korean, I often can’t keep up. Other than that, I’m having fun.”

BamBam, who recently visited his hometown of Thailand on KCON, said, “Every time I go, many fans warmly welcome me, so I get energy.”

BamBam, who gained popularity through entertainment, showed his affection for his singing career. He said, “I’m grateful that many people like watching me on entertainment shows. The reason why I decided to dye my hair is because I debuted as an idol, so I hope many people will like my performances and music as well. I think you should do it properly when you’re an idol. Otherwise, I think I’ll turn into a celebrity who only does entertainment shows.

He affirmed, “I want to be an idol until the end because my starting point is an idol. It’s enough if even one person listens to my song. I’d be so happy if I heard someone say, ‘I’ve only seen you on variety shows, but you’re also good at performing and singing.’”

Meanwhile, BamBam’s first solo full album “Sour & Sweet” will be released at 6 p.m. KST on March 28th.
