On October 27, a video titled “The Doctor’s Words That Lifted Baek Ji Yeon Up in the Emergency Room” was posted on her YouTube channel “Now, Baek Ji Yeon”.

Baek explained, “This was something absurd that happened recently. I’ve been exhausted from overwork, so I decided to rest and do nothing for a day. After lunch, I cleaned some chicken and wanted to sterilize the scissors I used by boiling them in a pot. I planned to set an alarm but got a phone call and forgot then I fell asleep. I woke up suddenly to a burning smell, and when I ran to the kitchen, the plastic handles of the scissors had completely melted.”

She continued, “I had inhaled the toxic fumes and felt like I was dying. My chest hurt, and I had a pounding headache. I called a doctor friend who told me to go to the emergency room right away. I said I didn’t want to bother anyone, but my friend insisted, saying my symptoms could worsen and I needed to make sure there was no lasting damage.”

Baek recalled the emotional turmoil that followed, “While waiting for my tests at the hospital, I was overwhelmed with regret, guilt, and self-blame. But then the doctor told me, ‘It’s okay. A lot of people come in for things like this.’ That one sentence was incredibly comforting. I realized I need to be someone who can say ‘It’s okay’ to myself and to others.”
