BABYMONSTER’s explosive SNS and YouTube growth, a hot topic even before debut 

Even before debut, the YG Entertainment girl group BABYMONSTER already has a strong fandom and popularity.

According to YG Entertainment on June 21st, BABYMONSTER’s official SNS channels, which were opened in February, recorded impressive numbers over the past four months (from February 1, 2023, to May 31, 2023). In particular, they gained 248,000 followers on Twitter, 2.22 million on Instagram, and 200,000 on Facebook, showing a steep upward trend on major platforms that indicates the formation of a fandom.

During the same period, the average increase for the top 10 Kpop girl groups on these platforms was 290,000 on Twitter, 1.51 million on Instagram, and 98,000 on Facebook.

As such, whilst BABYMONSTER hasn’t even made their official debut, the girl group is attracting explosive popularity, which is comparable to artists that have already formed large-scale fandoms.

At the same time, BABYMONSTER has achieved 2.8 million followers on TikTok, which is the second-highest increase among Kpop girl groups, following BLACKPINK.

Their presence on Facebook and Instagram is also significant. In particular, in May alone, BABYMONSTER’s official Facebook account recorded a high number of follower increase (about 200,000), which is second only to BLACKPINK. Meanwhile, on Instagram, they achieved the highest increase among Kpop girl groups with 970,000 new followers in just one month.

In particular, BABYMONSTER’s follower count increased by over 480,000 in just one week after the final lineup announcement on May 12th, proving the hot interest regarding the girl group’s debut and future activities.

They have also shown strength on YouTube. In the past six months, they have attracted a significant number of subscribers (approximately 2.9 million), second only to BLACKPINK among Kpop girl groups, and are rapidly approaching the 3 million mark. Their accumulated views on YouTube have exceeded 500 million.

Among a total of 150 countries, BABYMONSTER’s YouTube channel has the highest number of subscribers from the Asian region, and the United States, a major music market, ranked sixth overall. They have also captured a broad fan base in various regions, including North and South America, Europe, and Asia.

The girl group’s YouTube growth was most significant after the release of their pre-debut song,  “DREAM”. “DREAM” is a song that embodies BABYMONSTER’s journey towards their dreams and a new beginning.

Despite being released less than a month ago, “Dream” has the highest number of views among a total of 45 contents posted on BABYMONSTER’s YouTube channel.

On the other hand, BABYMONSTER is a girl group announced by YG Entertainment, approximately seven years after BLACKPINK’s debut.

Since YG Entertainment aimed for the global market from the beginning and formed the group with members from different countries such as Korea (Ahyeon, Haram, Rora), Thailand (Pharita, Chiquita), and Japan (Ruka, Asa), it is expected that they will be able to get closer to music fans worldwide.
