BABYMONSTER to have 5 members, final lineup revealed on May 12th?

YG Entertainment’s upcoming girl group BABYMONSTER will debut with a 5-member lineup, said Yang Hyun Suk.

On April 28th, YG Entertainment posted the final episode of BABYMONSTER’s debut reality series, “Last Evaluation”, on the girl group’s official YouTube channel.

In the reality show, the BABYMONSTER trainees practiced a mashup of 2NE1’s songs under the guidance of YGX dance trainer Leejung. They quickly mastered the high-level choreography, surprising Leejung with their detailed and powerful expressions that maximized the original songs’ charms.

Each member showcased their unique charms in the choreography for “Can’t Nobody” which was a special highlight. In particular, Ruka delivered intense and addictive choreography, Asa exuded powerful energy, while Haram fully understood and expressed the song. At the same time, Chiquita received high praise for her captivating power and became the main character of the signature choreography for “Fire.

However, at the end of the episode, executive producer Yang Hyun Suk said, “Ever since I started thinking of planning for this group BABYMONSTER, the number of members I had in mind was 5”, adding that he hasn’t decided the 5 final members.

Finally, it was revealed that the final members of BABYMONSTER will be publicly announced on Friday, May 12th, at 12:00 AM (KST).

Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER is YG’s first girl group in about seven years after BLACKPINK. There are 7 prospective members, including 3 from Korea (Ahyeon, Haram, Rora), 2 from Thailand (Pharita, Chiquita), and 2 from Japan (Ruka, Asa), most of whom are teenagers.
