“Avatar” is being screened again in Korea with a remastered version… The reason why it’s still a masterpiece even after 13 years.
“Avatar Remastering” is now available in cinemas in Korea.
“I see you” – The line that contains Jake Sully and Neytiri’s affectionate feelings will be shown on the big screen again. “Avatar” (director James Cameron) has been remastered for the first time in 13 years and is ready to greet the audience again.
Rerun in Korea on September 21st, “Avatar Remastering” is the remastered version of “Avatar”, which depicts the fate of Jake and Na’vi Neytiri, who were reborn as new life avatars in the inevitable war between planet Pandora and Earth, with 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range).
The movie begins with Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a former Marine who cannot use his legs anymore getting dispatched to Pandora on behalf of his dead brother and participating in the Avatar Program in which he has to control the avatars that his brother planned to control. Jake Sully, who has no understanding of the Na’vi clan, goes through a collision, but he is able to join the Omaticaya through a meeting with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). Jake Sully stays with the Na’vi and reports their information to his superiors, but in the process, he gets confused as he begins to sympathize with the culture and lifestyle of the Na’vi. Especially, Jake Sully falls in love with Neytiri, and he struggles to resolve the conflict between Na’vi people, who try to protect their home, and humans, who have huge greed for development.
Rerun 13 years after its release in 2009, “Avatar” increases the audience’s immersion in its story with high-quality CG and forms a consensus among viewers regardless of generation. First of all, the world that was created with CG 13 years ago is still shown with the same completeness and drawn with no difference. In particular, as “Avatar” has been remastered with 4K HDR, you can enjoy the movie with clearer images in 3D again.
Moreover, the story of Jake Sully dealing with the confusion of his identity, which inevitably has to be rough while he acts as an avatar, as well as the perspective of the environment and development, is still convincing in the 2022 version. It conveys a clear message by intuitively depicting the Na’vi people, who preserve nature as it is, and humans who want to destroy the forest to collect the resources of great value. As a result, many people will still exclaim “As expected. That’s ‘Avatar’” when they watch it even after 13 years.
At the time of its release, “Avatar” created a sensation as it surpassed 13 million admissions in Korea alone and set the No.1 box-office record in history by reaching global box office revenue of 2.8 billion dollars (about 3.9 trillion won).
