An actress who was a figure skating rising star and received offers from directors Bong Joon-ho and Yeon Sang-ho at the same time

Here’s what you may not know about “Parasite” actress Jung Ji-so. 

Actress Jung Ji-so became known for her role as Da-hye, the daughter of the wealthy Park family in the Academy Award-winning movie “Parasite”. She was born in 1999 and her real name is Hyun Seung-min. She recently gained attention for starring in the 2020 drama “The Cursed” and the 2021 movie “The Cursed: Dead Man’s Prey”.

Jung Ji-so also became a hot topic of discussion among netizens because of her fascinating past. She was active as a figure skater from the 2nd grade of elementary school to the 1st grade of middle school. She even won the grand prize at the world championships, showing off her qualities as an outstanding star in figure skating. 

The reason why Jung Ji-so switched to full-time acting is interesting. She talked about this in an interview.

“I used to be a figure skater, but I wanted to act separately. Yuna Kim acted in dramas although she is also a skater, and I used that as an excuse to force my father to send me to acting school.”

She continued, “Thanks to that, I learned skating and acting together, but after that, I didn’t have enough time to exercise while filming the drama ‘May Queen’, so I naturally switched to acting.” Jung Ji-so also played a figure skater in her 2012 debut drama ‘May Queen’.

In addition, when asked about the reason for appearing in the works of Bong Joon-ho and director Yeon Sang-ho, respectively, she said, “I still lack a lot of acting skills and don’t have much experience.” she said with a humble attitude.
