In response, SM Entertainment, the agency of aespa, also confirmed that aespa will attend the Cannes Film Festival as Chopard’s global ambassadors. It is known that aespa has been active as global ambassadors for the Swiss watch and jewelry brand Chopard since last September.

On the other hand, the Cannes Film Festival is one of the top three film festivals in the world. This year, it will be held from May 16th to 27th.

A total of 5 Korean films will be featured at the festival, including “Cobweb”, “Hwaran”, “A Day of Us”, “Sleep”, and “Escape: Project Silence” (tentative translation). At the same time, short films “The Lee Families”  and “Hole” were also included as invited works for the Cinéf selection. Actors Song Kang Ho, Song Joong Ki, Im Soo Jung, Kim Min Hee, Lee Sun Kyun, Jung Yoo Mi, and Joo Ji Hoon are expected to attend the 2023 Cannes.

Additionally, the US HBO drama “The Idol”, which marks the acting debut of BLACKPINK member Jennie, has also received an official invitation. However, according to her agency YG Entertainment, Jennie’s attendance at the Cannes Film Festival has not yet been decided.

At the 75th Cannes Film Festival held last year, actors Park Hae Il, Lee Ji Eun (singer IU), Kang Dong Won, and Bae Doona were invited. At that time, Song Kang Ho, who played the main character in the movie “Broker”, became the first Korean actor to receive the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
