ALLDAY PROJECT’s Woochan has become the center of controversy after a livestream response to a fan’s playful comment was labeled as homophobic by some international fans.
On August 30, Woochan held a live broadcast through the group’s official communication platform. During the stream, one fan jokingly commented, “Hyung, let’s date”. Woochan replied, “You’re calling me hyung but then trying to date me? That doesn’t work. I’m not like that. No.”
This clip quickly spread across social media, sparking heated debate. International fans argued that Woochan’s reaction reflected homophobia, as his phrasing suggested rejection of same-sex attraction in a way that went beyond lighthearted banter. Some noted, “Other male K-pop idols usually laugh off similar comments in a playful way, but Woochan sounded dismissive.”
Criticism grew stronger as fans recalled a recent controversy surrounding another ALLDAY PROJECT member, Tarzzan, who faced backlash for wearing dreadlocks and was accused of cultural appropriation.
