A Korean media site has provided additional information on the suspicions behind Ahyeon not debuting with BABYMONSTER
On November 15, the K-pop fan community was surprised by the news of Ahyeon not debuting with BABYMONSTER, the “little sister group” of BLACKPINK. Shortly after, however, YG stated that Ahyeon will sit out on the debut due to health issues, and that BABYMONSTER will still maintain the 7-member line-up (including Ahyeon).
However, with Ahyeon being removed from BABYMONSTER’s profile on Korea’s most famous portal site, Naver, many netizens still remain suspicious, pointing out that there have been various cases where YG claimed health issues for its idols, namely in TREASURE and WINNER, only for the idols to later leave the group.
Moreover, on the morning of November 16, the Korean news site Top Star News also addressed rumors about Ahyeon’s current situation. In particular, the news site quoted an article from an online forum, which claimed that Ahyeon has left YG and joined another company.
“She even settled the penalty (due to contract violation), received her down payment, and moved. Ahyeon is expected to debut next year”, the article also claimed.
However, Top Star News also emphasized that the article’s authenticity has not been verified.
