BTS’s Solo Activities Contribute Significantly To HYBE’s Performance In The Past Year

HYBE recently issued a report on their performance in the third quarter of 2023

According to the 2023 third-quarter report released on November 2nd, HYBE recorded sales of 537.9 billion won. It increased by 20.7% compared to the same period last year.

In this regard, an HYBE official said, “It is thanks to the BTS members’ solo activities and other artists’ promotions”. Ever since the members began to enlist, BTS has focused more on solo schedules rather than group activities. 

3rd Quarter Of 2022 – J-Hope

As the first member to debut solo, J-Hope started the series of successful solo promotions for BTS with the release of his album “Jack in The Box” in July 2022. Through this solo album, J-Hope earned various impressive achievements, such as surpassing 360,000 first-week sales, placing at No.82 on Billboard HOT 100, and performing at the US festival Lollapalooza as the headliner. With J-Hope’s solo promotion, HYBE’s sales in the third quarter of 2022 recorded 445.5 billion won. J-Hope enlisted in April 2023 and is currently serving in the army

4th Quarter of 2022 – Jin & RM

In October of the same year, Jin released single “The Astronaut” with only one song and sold 770,000 copies in the first week. He later joined the military in December. Following Jin, RM wrapped up 2022 by releasing his solo album “Indigo” with 10 songs and achieved a first-week sale of 610,000 copies. Thanks to Jin and RM’s promotions, HYBE’s sales increased 20.2% compared to the previous quarter and reached 535.5 billion won

1st And 2nd Quarters of 2023 – Jimin & Suga

Jimin was the first BTS member to do solo activities in 2023. He released “FACE” in March and broke the first-week sales record for solo artists with 1.45 million copies. Thanks to Jimin’s amazing performance, HYBE’s sales in the first quarter of 2023 soared to 410.6 billion won. 

A month later, in April, Suga made his solo debut with “D-DAY” and sold 1.27 million copies in the first week. In the second quarter, HYBE’s upward trend continued with a new milestone of 621 billion won.

3rd Quarter of 2023 – V

Released in September, V’s album “Layover” in the third quarter had the biggest impact on HYBE’s album sales. It recorded 2.1 million copies sold in the first week. His album sales alone generated a large revenue of 264.1 billion won. This has proved V’s extraordinary influence.

Expectations for HYBE’s performance in the 4th quarter are increasing as Jungkook successfully made his solo debut with the album “GOLDEN” in November. In particular, Jungkook surpassed V with the first-week sales of 2.43 million copies. In the first promotion week, he also sold more than 200,000 albums in the US, which is the highest sales record among K-pop solo singers.

Thanks to BTS members’ continuous solo activities, HYBE’s performance is growing steeply.
