Ahn Hyo-seop talked about his character and why he decided to appear in “A Business Proposal”
Ahn Hyo-seop revealed the reason he decided to star in drama “A Business Proposal”.
The online press conference for SBS’s new Monday-Tuesday drama “A Business Proposal” (written by Han Sul-hee, Hong Bo-hee/ directed by Park Sun-ho) was held on the afternoon of February 25th. Director Park Sun-ho, actors Ahn Hyo-seop, Kim Se-jeong, Kim Min-kyu, and Seol In-ah attended the event and asked the viewers to raise expectations for their drama.
“A Business Proposal” depicts a thrilling office romance between the “face genius” CEO Kang Tae-moo (Ahn Hyo-seop) and the female employee Shin Ha-ri (Kim Se-jeong) who lies about her identity. Based on the famous web novel and webtoon of the same name serialized on Kakao Page, “A Business Proposal” has drawn keen attention since it was announced to be produced as a drama version.
Ahn Hyo-seop, who has played many characters with intense emotions in his previous works, such as “Dr. Romantic 2” and “Lovers of the Red Sky”, will challenge the rom-com genre in earnest by taking on the role of the “perfect” CEO Kang Tae-moo, who has everything, including appearance, wealth and ability. Ahn Hyo-seop explained why he decided to appear in “A Business Proposal”, saying, “My previous works were heavier than I thought. I have played many roles that consumed lots of emotions, so when I first received the script for this drama, I read it without worries and stress. For my mental health, I think it would be great if I try such a pleasant and fun story like this.”
The actor added, “One of the reasons why I chose this work is because it is a romantic comedy. Until now, I have never shown such a bright and funny appearance like this to the viewers. I picked a comedy work since I really wanted to try it”.
Regarding his character Kang Tae-moo, who is perfect in every way, Ahn Hyo-seop said, “Kang Tae-moo loves himself a lot. He’s a friend who is strongly immersed in narcissism. I could never play this role if I don’t love myself. I kept reminding myself, “I’m a great person”, and performed the character.”
He also explained how he tried to digest his character, “The way Tae-moo speaks is also not normal. Kang Tae-moo is a fantasy character that may not exist in real life, so in order to maximize Tae-moo’s personality, the voice tone was set in a different way”, adding, “This character has a fancy appearance, so we paid lots of attention to the outfits arrangements with customized suits”.
Moreover, Ahn Hyo-seop also expressed his feelings about the drama, saying, “I hope it will become a ‘healing’ drama. I want this to be a work which you can watch while putting down all your worries in life and enjoy one hour of each episode comfortably”, adding, “Since I have challenged the comedy genre for the first time, I personally think I would love to see reactions like ‘This actor also has this kind of image’”.
The first episode of “A Business Proposal” will premiere at 10 P.M on February 28th.
