Actor Ahn Bo-hyun will be in charge of leading SBS’s new Fri-Sat drama in 2024
Starring Ahn Bo-hyun, SBS’s “Gold Spoon” is an investigative drama by “My Name” writer Kim Ba-da and PD Kim Jae-hong, who co-directed “Through the Darkness” and “Revenant”. It is expected to be a witty and lively comic action investigative story.
In this drama, Ahn Bo-hyun will appear as Jin Yi-soo, a carefree third-generation chaebol heir and ‘parachute’ detective. In particular, Jin Yi-soo uses not only his enormous wealth and connections as a chaebol but also his quick-witted brain and various skills to catch criminals.
As Ahn Bo-hyun has proved his wide acting spectrum through various popular series such as “Descendants of the Sun”, “Itaewon Class”, “My Name”, “Military Prosecutor Doberman” and “See You in My 19th Life”, viewers are looking forward to seeing his new transformation as a “young and rich” hero.
Actress Park Ji-hyun will play the female protagonist Lee Kang-hyun, the first female leader of the Violent Crime Division who loves investigation.
Ahn Bo-hyun and Park Ji-hyun worked together in “Yumi’s Cells” and now they will reunite as partners for investigation. As such, the two are expected to continue showcasing their amazing chemistry and excellent acting skills.
SBS’s Fri-Sat dramas have performed well until now as most of them, including “Payback”, “Taxi Driver 2”, “Dr. Romantic 3”, “Revenant”, etc., exceeded 10% ratings. In particular, “Taxi Driver 2”, starring Lee Je-hoon, even recorded the highest viewer rating of 21%, followed by Han Suk-kyu’s “Dr. Romantic 3” with 16.8% rating. Han Suk-kyu won SBS Drama Awards in 2016 with “Dr. Romantic Season 1”. At the time Season 2 aired, Namkoong Min won Daesang with “Hot Stove League”.
Despite the emergence of OTT, SBS has consistently created successful Fri-Sat dramas. Will they be able to continue the momentum in 2024? Attention is also focused on whether Ahn Bo-hyun will continue the success of his seniors and reach double-digit ratings.
