aespa’s “Spicy” Sets New Records and Sparks Dance Challenge Frenzy

aespa’s latest release “Spicy” is breaking records and creating a viral dance challenge.

The popularity of aespa‘s new song “Spicy” continues to rise. According to SM Entertainment, aespa’s third mini-album “MY WORLD” released on May 8th achieved a remarkable feat. 

It surpassed 1,698,784 copies in first-week sales (according to Hanteo Chart), securing the top spot for the highest first-week sales among all girl groups in history. Moreover, it topped major domestic and international music charts.


The title track “Spicy” is a dance song characterized by a powerful synth bass sound and dynamic beats. The choreography represents the act of dipping fingers into spicy sauce, showcasing an energetic and vibrant performance with both lively and cool vibes, as well as a confident and dazzling presence. 

In addition to the enthusiastic response, the #SpicyChallenge has also become a hot topic. Various stars, including BoA, NCT’s Jungwoo, KARA’s Heo Youngji, BTOB’s Seo Eunkwang and Lee Changsub, MONSTA X’s Jooheon, (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon, Park Myungsoo, and Kim Hoyoung, have participated in the challenge.

aespa is scheduled to attend the 76th Cannes International Film Festival’s red carpet event as the ambassador of Chopard, a prestigious luxury brand.
