A male idol costs himself a potentially major career break by joining a survival show

Jeon Ho Young, the “original” Dae, missed his chance with the buzzworthy spin-off by joining Boys Planet.

Currently, “XO, Kitty” is taking the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s Global Top 10 ranking of English-language TV series, hitting stardom after the success of its original movie franchise, “To All the Boys” series. Apart from the much-talked-about interactions between Kitty (Anna Cathcart) and Min Ho (Lee Sang Heon), the casting choice for Dae is also gaining particular attention.

In the original franchise, the role of Dae was portrayed by an idol-actor Jeon Ho Young. He was born in 2004 and is a trainee at OUI Entertainment. When Ho Young starred in “To All the Boys” as a shy and awkward teenager who met Kitty on a bridge, he was only 17.

However, in the “XO, Kitty” series, the role of Dae was handed over to Choi Min Young, largely due to Ho Young’s participation in Mnet’s “Boys Planet”. When it comes to one over the other, Ho Young might have placed his bet on the survival program.

This passed the chance to Choi Min Young, a famous supporting actor in “Twenty-Five Twenty-One”. When Min Young was making it big with the Netflix’s spin-off, the original actor Ho Young had to see his journey with Boys Planet end early on, with a 71 ranking.
