On July 2, So Ji Sub appeared on broadcaster Ha Ji Young’s YouTube channel, where he discussed his acting comeback and his current role in the hit SBS Friday-Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated.

Playing the title character, So Ji Sub said it was his first time portraying the father of a teenage daughter. “This is the first time I’ve played a father with a high school-aged daughter. I was personally curious about how I would portray that kind of character,” he shared.

When asked about being called “ajusshi” (middle-aged man), So Ji Sub laughed and said he had grown used to the nickname ever since starring in the classic drama I’m Sorry, I Love You. However, he admitted there was one thing that initially felt unfamiliar. “My daughter in the drama keeps calling me ‘Dad,’ and at first it felt a little awkward.” The actor also revealed that he regularly helps with household chores, simply answering “Yes” when asked whether he does housework.

The interview also revisited a memorable story from So Ji Sub’s public service days. Host Ha Ji Young mentioned that there had long been rumors that he excelled at office tasks such as making photocopies, organizing trash, and separating recyclables.

Embarrassed by the praise, So Ji Sub smiled shyly. He had previously joked during promotions for the 2012 film A Company Man: “I’ve never worked in an office, but during my public service, I commuted every day and was really good at separating recyclables.” The comment once again drew laughter from viewers.

During a balance game, So Ji Sub was asked whether he would rather star in a film that attracts 10 million moviegoers or a television drama that reaches 30% viewership. He chose the blockbuster film. “I’ve already experienced a drama reaching 30% ratings, so I’d like to achieve a movie with 10 million admissions. Back then, dramas often reached 30–40% ratings even if they were just moderately successful.”

So Ji Sub married former announcer Jo Eun Jung, who is 17 years younger, in 2020. He is currently earning praise for his emotional performance as former North Korean special operative Manager Kim in SBS’s Agent Kim Reactivated.
