More than a year after the passing of actress Barbie Hsu, DJ Koo is reportedly still living in Taiwan, spending most of his days at her gravesite with no plans to return to work.

Visitors to the Chin Pao San Memorial Park recently said they spotted DJ Koo at his late wife’s grave. Witnesses described him as noticeably thinner and paler than before, adding that he appeared physically exhausted. Wearing a jacket and baseball cap, he sat quietly on a folding chair, focusing on a tablet in his hands. According to those familiar with the cemetery, this has become part of his daily routine ever since Barbie Hsu passed away.

For nearly two years, DJ Koo’s life has largely revolved around visiting his wife’s resting place. He reportedly brings food to the cemetery every morning, remains there throughout the day regardless of the weather, and only leaves after sunset. Before heading home each evening, he is said to gently kiss her grave.

Earlier reports from several bloggers suggested that DJ Koo would return to South Korea after completing a memorial monument for Barbie Hsu and after observing the first anniversary of her passing. However, he has yet to leave Taiwan. He has also not resumed his entertainment career or renewed several endorsement deals, including a promotional contract with a cosmetic clinic in Taiwan.

In June, DJ Koo appeared in a video for a Korean television program, where he shared memories of the home he and Barbie Hsu spent time in more than 20 years ago. He revealed that during their early relationship, she would fly to South Korea almost every weekend to see him. The house still contains many of her childhood photographs, personal belongings, and even old hair clips she once used.

Barbie Hsu’s younger sister, Dee Hsu, also revealed that DJ Koo has created nearly 250 portraits of his late wife over the past eight months, forming what she described as a “memorial wall” inside his home. She hopes to organize an exhibition in the future so the public can see Barbie Hsu through her husband’s artistic perspective.

Updates about DJ Koo’s current life have deeply moved many fans. Across online communities, countless people have expressed hope that he will eventually overcome his grief and rediscover happiness while continuing to cherish the memories he shared with his wife.

DJ Koo, whose real name is Koo Jun-yup, is a South Korean music producer, singer, DJ, and member of the legendary dance music duo Clon. In addition to his music career, he also operates his own fashion brand. He married Barbie Hsu in 2022 after rekindling a romance that began decades earlier.

Barbie Hsu, born in 1976, was one of Taiwan’s most beloved actresses and singers, earning international recognition through hit dramas such as Meteor Garden, Mars, and Summer’s Desire. She largely stepped away from acting after 2012, choosing to focus on her private life. Following her divorce from businessman Wang Xiaofei in late 2021, she remained out of the spotlight while raising her children.

On February 3, 2025, local media quoted her younger sister Dee Hsu as confirming that Barbie Hsu had passed away the previous day during a Lunar New Year family trip to Japan. She reportedly died from complications related to influenza and pneumonia.

More recently, Barbie Hsu received a lasting tribute beyond Earth. At the end of June, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) officially announced that asteroid No. 208663 had been named “Barbie Hsu Star”, symbolizing her enduring legacy and the light she continues to shine throughout the universe.
