Two members of BABYMONSTER have come under scrutiny after wearing revealing stage outfits and performing provocative choreography during the group’s recent concert, despite being only 18~19 years old.

The K-pop girl group officially kicked off its world tour with its opening concerts in Seoul, South Korea.

However, following the Seoul shows, one of the biggest talking points online has been the styling and mature stage concepts assigned to some of the group’s youngest members.

Ahyeon, the 19-year-old member often nicknamed the “next Jennie,” took the stage in a black strapless mini dress decorated with sparkling crystals and metallic details. The asymmetrical design helped create a striking performance look.

As fancams from the concert spread across social media, many viewers pointed out that the strapless dress appeared excessively tight and lacked secure shoulder support. During intense choreography, the outfit repeatedly slipped downward, leaving fans worried that the singer could experience a wardrobe malfunction.

Despite the situation, Ahyeon maintained her professionalism throughout the performance. While continuing to sing and dance, she repeatedly adjusted her outfit and used her hair to cover her chest whenever possible. During more demanding dance moves, she carefully shielded herself to avoid exposing too much.

Most of the criticism was directed at YG Entertainment, with many fans arguing that the company failed to prioritize the artist’s comfort and safety when selecting her stage costume. Others also questioned whether such a revealing outfit was appropriate for an idol who only recently reached adulthood under Korean law.

Ahyeon was not the only member to become the center of controversy. Thai member Chiquita also drew widespread attention after footage of her performance of “Worth It” during the Seoul concert circulated online.

The stage opened with Chiquita performing against a dramatic red backdrop while executing bold and sensual choreography.

Rather than focusing on the quality of her performance, many online discussions centered on concerns that YG Entertainment is presenting an overly mature and provocative image for the 17-year-old idol.

Some commenters argued that the issue extends beyond this single performance, claiming that BABYMONSTER’s overall concept and promotional direction have recently leaned too heavily toward mature styling for its younger members.

Chiquita’s performance has also reignited broader conversations about the K-pop industry, which continues to face criticism over the sexualization of underage idols and the use of mature concepts for commercial appeal.
