SBS’s blockbuster legal drama Good Partner, which previously recorded a peak viewership rating of 21%, is officially returning with a highly anticipated Season 2 in the second half of the year. The return of the series has already sparked major excitement, especially with the introduction of new cast members and a refreshed storyline that promises another wave of success.

Airing in 2024, Good Partner followed the emotional and professional journey of Cha Eun-kyung, a top divorce lawyer, and Han Yu-ri, a rookie attorney experiencing divorce law for the first time.

The drama was praised for its realistic storytelling, balancing legal cases with human emotion and personal growth. Its grounded approach to divorce-related themes resonated strongly with viewers. The final episode achieved a peak nationwide rating of 17.7%, with a real-time peak of 21%, making it one of the highest-rated programs of the year. It also dominated the coveted 2049 demographic ratings, solidifying its status as a top-tier SBS hit.

The upcoming Good Partner 2 continues the story of Cha Eun-kyung as she takes on new legal challenges as the head of a divorce-specialized law firm. The new season will follow her as she partners with a new colleague to handle complex and emotionally charged cases.

The original production team is also returning, including the director and writer who previously worked as a divorce law specialist raising expectations for another well-crafted season.

One of the biggest changes in Season 2 is the departure of Nam Ji-hyun, who played Han Yu-ri in Season 1. Due to scheduling conflicts, she will not be returning. Replacing her is actress Kim Hye-yoon, who joins the series as Cha Eun-kyung’s new partner. Her casting has generated strong anticipation from fans, particularly after a teaser showed her character confidently declaring: “No, trust me!”

Kim Hye-yoon has previously shared her enthusiasm for joining the project, saying she felt both pressure and excitement taking on a role in such a successful series. She emphasized her determination to deliver a strong performance worthy of the show’s reputation.

Meanwhile, Nam Ji-hyun expressed support for the new season, explaining that her departure was due to scheduling rather than creative differences. She also wished the production success and expressed curiosity about the new storyline.

With the return of Season 1’s original production team, the continued presence of Jang Na-ra, and the addition of Kim Hye-yoon, expectations for Good Partner 2 are extremely high.

Given the original series’ impressive peak rating of 21%, industry observers are watching closely to see whether the sequel can replicate—or even surpass—the success of its predecessor and reaffirm its status as one of SBS’s biggest dramas in recent years.
