A new controversy has emerged following the release of “Iconic By Mistake,” a collaboration track featuring members of ILLIT, LE SSERAFIM, and KATSEYE. While the song has already generated significant buzz online, attention has now shifted to allegations of visual similarities between scenes in the music video and content previously released by rookie girl group VVS.
The collaboration track was released through HYBE and immediately attracted strong interest from fans. Within hours of its release, the music video amassed millions of views, with viewers debating everything from the song's production to the chemistry between members of the three groups. However, discussion soon expanded beyond the music itself after comparisons surfaced between portions of the video and VVS's earlier work.

The controversy centers on several scenes featuring ILLIT members inside what appears to be a worn-down dental clinic. In the sequence, the members are shown performing dental work on member Wonhee in a surreal and stylized setting. Soon after the video’s release, fans noticed similarities between these scenes and visuals featured in VVS’s 2025 track D.I.M.M. Screenshots comparing the two projects began circulating online, leading to speculation that VVS may have taken issue with the similarities.

The discussion intensified when VVS’s official Instagram account shared side-by-side screenshots from both projects through its Story feature. The post reportedly included images from “Iconic By Mistake” alongside scenes from “D.I.M.M.” and directed viewers to VVS’s music video. Although the group did not explicitly accuse HYBE or ILLIT of plagiarism, many fans interpreted the post as a public response to the similarities being discussed online.
The Story quickly spread across social media platforms, where users debated whether it was intended as criticism, a joke, or a subtle attempt to highlight VVS's earlier release.

Reactions to the post have been mixed. Some netizens argued that the similarities were notable enough to warrant discussion, while others questioned whether a dental-office concept is unique enough to justify plagiarism accusations. Several fans also pointed out that ILLIT had previously explored comparable whimsical and surreal visual concepts in earlier releases, including Cherish (My Love). Others expressed concern that publicly drawing attention to the issue could expose VVS to unnecessary criticism from larger fandoms.
As of now, neither HYBE nor the groups involved have issued an official statement regarding the comparisons. Likewise, VVS has not directly accused anyone of plagiarism beyond the Instagram Story that sparked the discussion.

Without further clarification from either side, the debate remains centered on fan interpretations and visual comparisons rather than any formal allegation.
Whether the similarities between Iconic By Mistake and D.I.M.M. are viewed as inspiration, coincidence, or something more remains a matter of opinion among fans.
