Jo Jung Suk has once again addressed long-standing questions surrounding his marriage to Gummy, clarifying why the couple never held an official wedding ceremony.
The topic came up during a preview for actress and former Girl’s Day member Hyeri’s YouTube program, where Jo Jung Suk reunited with her on screen for the first time in nearly nine years since starring together in the 2017 drama Two Cops.
During the conversation, Jo Jung Suk joked about seeing Hyeri as a younger sibling before unexpectedly bringing up his marriage.
He shared, “A lot of people ask why I didn’t invite them to the wedding. But I never actually had a wedding ceremony.”
The actor’s comment immediately drew attention online, as many fans were still unaware that the celebrity couple never held a traditional wedding despite marrying back in 2018 after five years of dating.
Instead of a public ceremony, Jo Jung Suk and Gummy reportedly held a small private vow ceremony attended only by close family members. The couple was known to prefer a simple and intimate celebration over a large celebrity wedding.
This is not the first time the couple has spoken about the issue.
Back in 2024, Gummy appeared on Daesung’s YouTube channel and revealed that many people still did not realize they skipped a formal wedding. Daesung himself admitted he had not known either.
Gummy explained that deciding whom to invite and whom to leave out became emotionally difficult, which ultimately contributed to their decision not to hold a traditional ceremony. She later shared similar thoughts again during an appearance on singer K.Will’s YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, Jo Jung Suk also opened up about family life after welcoming his second daughter earlier this year.
The actor humorously revealed that both daughters strongly resemble him, saying, “I hoped the second child would look like her mother because the first one already looks so much like me. But surprisingly, the second one resembles me even more. There are now three Jo Jung Suks and only one Gummy in our house.”
Fans online warmly reacted to the couple’s simple approach to marriage and family life, praising them for maintaining a low-profile relationship despite their celebrity status.
