Bring Me The Horizon’s lead vocalist Oli Sykes suffered an injury after being struck by a cellphone thrown from the audience during a concert.

The incident occurred during the band’s concert in St. Louis on May 11 (local time) while the group was performing their song “Happy Song.” A cellphone suddenly flew from the crowd and hit Sykes on the left side of his head.

Videos captured at the venue showed the singer looking visibly shocked after finishing the song as he asked the audience, “Who the hell threw a phone at my head?” He later handed the phone over to security staff. During the performance, Sykes was also seen rubbing his head in pain and briefly pausing on stage.

The following day, Sykes updated fans about his condition through his personal account. He revealed that he visited the hospital after experiencing mild concussion symptoms from the impact. “I got hit by a phone and had mild concussion symptoms, so I went to the hospital,” he shared. “My head was swollen and painful, but thankfully the swelling has gone down a lot, so I’m okay now.” He also apologized to fans for not being able to fully finish the St. Louis performance as planned. “Right after the accident, I completely lost my sense of direction, so I’m sorry I couldn’t properly wrap up the concert,” he admitted.

Fortunately, Sykes confirmed that the injury would not affect the band’s ongoing tour schedule. Bring Me The Horizon proceeded with their Kansas City concert on May 12 as originally planned.

As of now, officials at the Enterprise Center, where the concert took place, have reportedly not identified the individual who threw the phone.

According to the venue’s code of conduct, throwing objects onto the stage is strictly prohibited. Audience members caught doing so can face immediate removal from the venue without a refund and may even be arrested depending on the severity of the incident.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time singers have been injured by objects thrown on stage. Earlier this year, country singer Riley Green was left bleeding after being hit by a thrown cellphone. In the past, stars including Bebe Rexha, Harry Styles, and Drake have also suffered injuries after being struck by objects during performances.
