jun ji hyun cannes film festival

On the morning of May 15 local time (afternoon KST), the official photocall for the film “Colony” was held at the terrace of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. Director Yeon Sang Ho attended the event alongside cast members Jun Ji Hyun, Ji Chang Wook, Koo Kyo Hwan, Kim Shin Rok, and Shin Hyun Been.

On this day, Jun Ji Hyun immediately drew attention with her clean and elegant styling. Wearing a white blouse paired with tailored slacks, she added a long necktie as a stylish accent, creating a chic yet graceful atmosphere. Her signature relaxed smile, natural attitude, and charismatic gaze completed a highly professional photocall appearance.

“Colony” tells the story of isolated survivors trapped inside a quarantined building during a mysterious infectious outbreak, as they struggle against infected individuals evolving into unpredictable forms. The film was officially invited to the Midnight Screening section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival.

Director Yeon Sang Ho marked his fourth invitation to Cannes with “Colony.” He was previously invited to the Directors’ Fortnight section of the 65th Cannes Film Festival with “The King of Pigs” in 2012 and later entered the Midnight Screening section with “Train to Busan” in 2016. In 2020, despite the festival not being held due to the pandemic, “Peninsula” received the Cannes 2020 Label. With “Colony,” Yeon Sang Ho returned to Cannes for the first time in nearly a decade.

The film also marks Jun Ji Hyun’s long-awaited return to the big screen. The actress is making her first movie comeback in 11 years since “Assassination” in 2015. The cast additionally includes actors Go Soo, Koo Kyo Hwan, Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hyun Been, and Kim Shin Rok.

Meanwhile, the official world premiere midnight screening of “Colony” took place on May 16 at 12:30 a.m. local time (7:30 a.m. KST) at the Grand Théâtre Lumière in the Palais des Festivals. The film is scheduled to premiere in South Korean theaters on May 21.
