Former Miss Korea and actress Kim Sa Rang reportedly had one of her apartments in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, seized by tax authorities earlier last month due to unpaid national taxes, according to a report by Ilyo Shinmun i.

The report revealed that one apartment unit owned by Kim Sa Rang in Gimpo City was seized on April 6 by the Samseong Tax Office in Seoul’s Gangnam District. According to real estate registration documents, the seizure rights holder was listed as “the State,” while the authority responsible for the measure was recorded as the head of the Samseong Tax Office. The registration cause was marked under the tax collection division.

Among the properties owned by Kim Sa Rang, the Gimpo apartment is reportedly the only one seized by the Samseong Tax Office. In addition to the Gimpo property, the actress also owns another apartment in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu. No seizure records were found for the Cheongdam-dong apartment in the official property registry.

The officially assessed value of the seized Gimpo apartment, based on January 2026 standards, is reportedly 366 million KRW. Its recent market value is estimated to be around 600 million KRW.

Considering that her Cheongdam-dong apartment was not seized, it is believed the tax office determined that the unpaid amount could be sufficiently recovered through the Gimpo apartment alone.

When Ilyo Shinmun i asked about the specific reason for the unpaid taxes and the total amount owed, a representative from the Samseong Tax Office responded, “We cannot confirm that due to the Personal Information Protection Act.”

According to the National Tax Service, property seizures by tax authorities are enforced based on the government’s officially assessed property value rather than actual market transaction prices. Regardless of the size of the unpaid taxes, the entire property can be subject to seizure.

An official from the National Tax Service explained, “Real estate seizures are carried out by lot or unit number, so even if the unpaid amount is significantly smaller than the official property value, the entire property is still seized.”

Once a real estate seizure related to unpaid national taxes is officially registered, the measure immediately takes effect and applies to the overdue amount. If the taxpayer does not fully settle the unpaid taxes after the seizure registration, the case may proceed to a public auction process in the future.

However, if the overdue taxes are fully paid, procedures to lift the seizure can be carried out.
